Meadors is commited to restoring this extremely dilapidated building to LEED standards, and is seeking LEED for New Construction Certification.

Achieving LEED certification requires that special attention be given to the design of the mechanical systems, the re-use of existing structure and materials, and the use of sustainable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly materials wherever possible.

In keeping with The Charleston Green Committee's vision for Charleston, and to achieve an as high as possible LEED Certification, 97 Broad Street will include features like bicycle stands, recycling collection bins, a low maintenance yard.

Light pollution, energy consumption, and water use are all areas that have been specifically designed to reduce the buildings impact on the environment.
